Kim McMechan is a writer and award-winning singer-songwriter from Kelowna, BC.  She performs frequently around BC with her electric guitar player Bruce Wiebe, as well as with her bluegrass band The Floorbyrds and her all-girl alt-country quartet Dear Liza.  Her well-crafted songs, which often begin as poetry, are grounded in the details of the everyday .  Tracks from her album Little Grey House, which won her the award for Best New Artist at the Okanangan Music Awards in 2006, can be heard frequently on CBC Radio and campus stations throughout Canada.  Recently, Her song Parachute, placed in the top 10 in the singer-songwriter category through Ourstage, and her much-loved song Calgary received honorable mentions in both the International Songwriting Competition and The Greatlakes Songwriting Competition. She is currently at work on a second full-length album and studying photography at the Centre for Arts and Technology in between raising her two young daughters.  She blogs regularly at
